The Barbados Squash Rackets Association has selected a team combining youth and experience to participate in squash in the 20th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Cartagena, Colombia in July.

The team selected to participate in the singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team competitions is as follows:

Ladies – Nadia McCarthy; Karen Meakins; Cheri-Ann Parris; Sonia Perkins.
Men – Gavin Cumberbatch; Mark Sealy; Shawn Simpson; Marlon White.
Manager – Orson Simpson.

The ladies team will be strengthened by the inclusion of the experienced six-time national ladies’ champion, Karen Meakins, and national #2 player, Sonia Perkins. Top local juniors, Cheri-Ann Parris and Nadia McCarthy will round out a strong ladies team that are currently the defending Caribbean ladies team champions.

The men’s team will benefit from the experience of former eight time national men’s champion, Mark Sealy, and Marlon White, who both represented Barbados at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. However, the top two locally ranked players Gavin Cumberbatch and Shawn Simpson, who between them have won four of the last seven men’s national titles, will be expected to be heavily involved this time around.

The squash competition at the brand new Cartagena Rackets Complex will begin with singles action on July 16th and end with the team finals on July 24th.
