WINNIPEG – Second-seed Shawn DeLierre of
Brossard, Que., defeated number-five Christopher Gordon of the U.S., on Friday
night to advance to the semifinals at the $15,000 Winnipeg Building and
Decorating Manitoba Open men's professional squash tournament.
DeLierre won the match 11-3, 11-9, 11-10 and
will hook up with sixth-seed Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan of Malaysia in one of
Saturday's semifinals.
Adnan eliminated qualifier Cesar Salazar of
Mexico in his quarterfinal match 11-3, 11-5, 10-11, 11-4.
Majid Khan of Pakistan, the surprise winner at
the Calgary stop on the pro tour last week, withdrew early in the second game
in his quarterfinal match against top-seed Borja Golan of Spain due to injury.
Golan took the first game 11-6 and led 5-0 in the second.
Number-four Yasir Butt of Pakistan, beat Ryan
Donegan, the No7 seed from the U.S., 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 the other quarter.
Saturday's semis go at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at
the Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club. The final is Sunday at 2 p.m.
