NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont.- Shahier Razik of
Toronto and Alana Miller of Winnipeg won the men's and women's finals
respectively on Tuesday at the Canadian Squash Circuit Grande Finale at The
Club at White Oaks.
Razik, Canada's number-one player an ranked
21st in the world, had his hands full with Shawn DeLierre of Montreal winning
the match 5-11, 11-4, 12-10. It didn't take long for Razik to realize he was
in for a marathon.
''I didn't expect a close match initiallly but
five minutes in I knew I was in for a long one, Shawn played really well,''
said Razik, who sat out most of March with a leg injury. ''I wasn't really
happy with how I played but every time I play a match right now I feel more
and more confident. I feel the leg right now is at about 98 percent.''
The women's final between Miller and Tara
Mullins of Montreal, also appeared headed to the final serve before Mullins
injured her ankle in the third match and withdrew. Miller won the first game
9-3 before Mullins tied it with a 9-5 victory. Mullins was leading 3-2 in the
deciding game when she was injured.
