Action heated up on day two of the OECS (Organisation
of Eastern Caribbean States) Squash Championships with the consolation rounds
and main draw semi-finals being played. All the top seeds claimed their
expected spots in the various categories, but Dominica's Patrick Martin had
other plans. Seeded at #6 in the Men's Over 40 division, he continued to defy
the seedings with a straight-game demolition of #2 seed Neville Sorrentino of
the British Virgin Islands. He will now face defending champion Colin Alexander
in the final, after the latter avenged his earlier loss against Randolph
Victor. In the Women's Open, top seeds Lindy Alexander and Sherian Slater made
their way into the final with easy victories over compatriots Cheryl Renwick
and Greta Primus respectively. The Men's Open final will see a renewal of the
great rivalry between St. Lucia's Charlie Sonson and Vincentian James Bentick.
